Plans for December!

It’s almost December and that means Advent, Christmas and New Year’s Eve! It also means that 2018 is drawing to an end, and while the month is swiftly filling up with various carol services, I’ve also got some other plans which don’t involve singing as many carols as possible. I woke up with Angels from the Realms of Glory in my head so this ambition is going well…

My brother will be coming home on Saturday, so I’m looking forward to seeing him again. I’ll also hopefully be seeing a few friends over the course of the month as well as doing some Christmas themed baking – Lebkuchen, here we come! Speaking of lebkuchen, as I can’t actually go to Frankfurt, I’ll hopefully have a couple of trips to Birmingham’s German Christmas Market. I’ve been most years since we moved to Birmingham in 2005, and it has all the best German Christmas foods!

I’ll be seeing Mercury Rev on the 10th December – I’ve seen them live once before, at the Green Man festival in Wales. This time it will be at one of my favourite gig venues, the Glee Club in Birmingham. We’re also planning a day trip to London so I can go to the Anglo-Saxon exhibit at the British Library – I’ve heard lots of good things about it, especially from fellow medievalists on Twitter who have managed to get along to it.

So, a busy month but hopefully a fun one! And I think I’ve finished my Christmas shopping before December has even started…
